Bathing on the ice

Seel are sweet and trusting creatures.

Up until about 100 years ago seel had never seen humans, so when they arrived on the icy shores in the polar region of kanto they had no reason to fear them.

Sailors of this time had no worries in hunting the animals for food and clothing. It wasn't long however until the sailors realized that they could train them quite easily. They then used them almost like slegde dogs for boats, having them pull the boats through the icy water and also clear the way of ice using their horns.

The horns on their heads are actually horn made of hair, symilar to deer or rhino. they use it to make underwater homes in the ice, digging safe shelters from predators on the ices surface.

They use their big bottom insizors to break into shells and to cut through ice or near frozen food.
They dig holes in the ice called breathing holes. many seel use them at one time while fishing, but they freeze over easily so there arnt usually many about and can be miles between them.

When Seel are first born the mother Dougong will stay with them until their thick protective fur falls off, when it starts to shed she leaves to let them fend on their own.

You can find seels in warmer climates but they have very light grey or brown fur.

Now days only local people hunt them for food but many people from all over want to capture them as they are strong water/ice pokemon and fair well in battle if trained correctly.
