I seem to be drawn to this artist like a moth to a flame - this is the third critique I've done of his work.
Here we have a Gyarados, swimming beneath what appears to be a fishing boat. There is not much else to speak of, and it is rather bland, although the light hitting the water and changing its colour looks quite beautiful.

Gyarados is a Pokemon that was created over 15 years ago by Game Freak - as such, it is not this artist's property. However, the way that the artist drew it is interesting, albeit slightly limiting; we do not get to see much of the Pokemon, so we do not know how much it has changed, if at all. However, it does look good for what we do see, if not slightly barren in detail.

The colouring looks fantastic, and the subdued blues are a beautiful choice. The boat, however, looks odd - I had to do a double-take to see what it was. It seems a bit out of place on the picture, as it has much detail, whereas the background lacks it. As there is not much detail, there is not much intrigue, and it seems apparent that more 'bells and whistles' would have improved this image.

Overall, this is certainly a good piece of fan art, but could definitely be improved. However, if it truly was 'whipped up' as the artist says, it is well done for a quick work. Nice job.
